Bury 0 Liverpool 0

First and foremost about the trip to Bury we bring you the highlights…. And having covered them there’s not much more to say other than this was possibly the worst pre-season friendly I’ve ever watched. Jürgen mentioned apparently mentioned gruelling training sessions, the heat and the dry pitch which is his right. I’d add we looked disjointed and I can’t recall the opposing goalkeepers [they used two] making a save.

The Long And Winding Road

Way back in the days of Brendan there was a rumour doing the rounds that Liverpool wanted to sign Xherdan Shaqiri from Bayern Munich. Four years later in the days of Jürgen it has finally happened. Only we didn’t sign him from the might of Bayern Munich but from Stoke.  A strange path for the player to take but he’s at Anfield and we wait and see what he brings to the table.

Tranmere 2 Liverpool 3

First of all, there were some good performances in the first half at Tranmere and secondly there were some slipshod showings in the second half.  In the opening 45 minutes young Rafa Camacho playing as a right back cum right winger impressed, was involved in a fair bit and scored following good work by Sheyi Ojo.  It was Ojo himself who scored a second.  When the returning Adam Lallana added a third another rout seemed more likely than not.  Keita and Fabinho showed useful touches which was obviously pleasing.  Only the second half saw a totally different team both in personal and performance.  Hard to think of anyone who stood out; we could [should] have added to the goals tally but lacked a fair bit when around the goal.  Then there was Loris Karius!  Okay, the manager doesn’t want to dwell on his basic error that threw Tranmere a lifeline and that’s Jürgen’s choice.  Jürgen doesn’t want to dwell upon it but you can bet the media will.  The second Tranmere goal followed more ineptness, this time involving James Milner and youngster Pedro Chirivella and the ‘walkover’ became a contest.
