Liverpool 3 Arsenal 1

Great performance and deserved win. Mo was at his best, the second of his two goals top draw. Matip now a threat when we have set pieces and the Kop in full song. Brilliant. Shame they scored but three points in the bank.

Southampton 1 Liverpool 2

Another long trek for team and supporters and another performance which had highs and lows. Sadio Mane is a world class footballer, thankfully he plays for Liverpool. His goal was one of the highs as was the Bobby Firmino effort as well. Two up, coasting but then it happened.  A slapstick error from our latest goalkeeper Adrian and we have ten minutes of unnecessary and unwanted stress. However, the long trek home was okay in the end, three points make journey’s worth the while.

Liverpool 2 Chelsea 2 [Liverpool won 5-4 on pens]

So, history does repeat itself.  Last time Liverpool played a Cup Final in Istanbul it was sorted out via penalties. Ditto this time although it wasn’t ‘Big Ears’ it was still a ‘final’.  Liverpool and Chelsea did the UEFA ‘final’ proud, gave it a go and we brought the Cup back home. Good to Sadio back in full flow and let’s hope we can now settle back down to the more routine stuff of the Premier league – that’s if the Premier League can ever be routine.

Liverpool 4 Norwich 1

The ultimate game of two halves? Well for an hour we were superb but then switched off. 4-0 at halftime with an an own goal via an Origi cross  getting is going. Mo made it two and VvD headed in the third. Unfortunately we then lost Alisson so on came Adrian for his Anfield debut. Not the situation we wanted. However when Origi scored the fourth we thought we could handle that.  We should have scored more in the first ten minutes of the second half but then we dropped the power and Norwich came back and scored. That’ll do for starters.

Oldham 3 Liverpool Under 21’s 2

The first game in the English League Trophy but a loss at Oldham. The lads played well in an attacking sense but there were question marks over the defending. Neco Williams had put our boys ahead but then we conceded two goals when we should have defended better.  Harvey Elliott levelled things before halftime. More poor defending of a set piece allowed Oldham to score what was the winner; but the corner Oldham were given should have been a free kick to us.  Fleetwood await in the next group game, Joey Barton might be there.
