“We walk the hill our way”
On Saturday 12th June, A gang of us (106 to be exact) made our way up to the highest point in the British Isles, to raise awareness about mental health issues, raise some much needed funds for charities that are helping people who suffer with their mental health and also in memory of the 96 people who never came home from Hillsborough. Along the way we captured some footage of our journey in this video log.
I hope it gives some insight into how difficult a challenge climbing Ben Nevis is, and for those who were there, I hope it recalls some happy memories. It was an emotional challenge and I think as individuals, we all had our own reasons for wanting to take it on.
There was laughter, tears, Bagpipes and even a rendition of ‘You’ll never walk alone’ at the summit.
The irony that 96 of us made it to the summit was not lost on us and I have no doubt we were never alone on our journey.
We climbed the hill in our own way.
We live for day’s like these.
Thanks to Mark Doyle for organising this amazing event.
