Probably our worst pre-season showing for many a year. A poor show all over the park and no excuses either. 70,000 turned out and unless they supported Napoli, they went home disappointed.

Liverpool 2 Sporting Lisbon 2
Final game of the US tour and maybe another slightly disappointing result. One down early on before Origi and Wijnaldum turned things around before halftime only for the Portuguese side to level it in the second half. Probably a fair result in a game which saw the debut of Sepp van den Berg. These tours are not about results, nor about fitness but about making money and if that is the case, it was probably a success.
Liverpool 1 Seville 2
A ‘home’ defeat at Fenway Park; so the US tour not going quite as planned. The Spaniards appeared to have come for war judging by some of the treatment they handed out. Once again Jurgen opted for the mix and match approach and a lack of cohesion is there at the moment. We went a goal down before the legend that is Divock Origi squared matters just before halftime. Seville were reduced to 10 men after an horrific tackle on teenager Yasser Larouci which saw our lad carried off and on crutches at the end. However, they still grabbed the winner with just minutes remaining.
Liverpool 2 Dortmund 3
First stop on the US tour was Indiana and it resulted in a defeat against old foes Dortmund Borussia. Like with pre-season wins pre-season defeats don’t really matter, not when the football is twenty odd aside. Too many faces still missing and others just getting on the field to stretch their legs. A goal down early on before Harry Wilson levelled. The Germans made it 3-1 with goals just before and just after halftime before a penalty from Rhian Brewster gave hope. Some might make something of it – like Social media but spare a thought for our American cousins. We complain about the cost of football but at the famed Notre Dame stadium they had to pay $60….just to park their cars.
