Red All Over The Land Events

Nights with legends

while raising money for good causes

Over the years, we’ve hosted live events celebrating Liverpool’s past and present with nights with legends like Phil Thompson, Kevin Keegan, John Aldridge, John Barnes, David Fairclough, Ronnie Whelan, and Peter Beardsley.
These gatherings have become part of the Red All Over The Land experience and a chance for supporters to meet club greats, share memories, and raise a glass to what makes Liverpool FC special, all while supporting good causes.

GOLF DAY WITH LEGENDS

Woolton Golf Club APRIL 2026

On the events front we followed on from the successful Joey Jones tribute night with our golf day at Woolton. A massive thanks must go to Neil Brazell for his efforts and time in
organising the event. At first, we felt a little disappointed when a few teams withdrew but maybe that was one of those blessings in disguise as the numbers involved seemed to be sufficient. It also rained a fair bit. From the football side David Fairclough, Ronnie Whelan and Gary Gillespie came along and although they didn’t play the full 18-holes they did get out on the course and hit a few balls around. It was good to meet them, and we plan to involve them further.
The idea behind the golf was to raise awareness of the charity David Fairclough supports, namely Merefield School in Ainsdale. We hope to follow the golf up with a future event that could include both golf and football.

After the golf was concluded participants had dried out there was a meal and the presentation of the awards to those who’d achieved certain landmarks on the day but as
that was in golfing terminology, I can’t really say too much more. However, there were golf balls, golfing umbrellas [could have done with one of them] and thanks to a Red All Over The Land supporter a golf day for four was the main prize.

This was our first venture into golf and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t do it again. As said, it was mostly down to Neil who worked with Woolton Golf Club to make sure it
happened. Therefore, a big thank you to all at the club for not just the hire of the time on the course, but the bacon butty and coffee as a breakfast and the after-golf dinner. Excellent service from start to end.

Joey Jones Tribute Night

Hotel Wrexham APRIL 2026

The Joey Jones tribute night at the Hotel Wrexham was a resounding success. A sell out crowd came along to help us celebrate the career of a player who became a ‘cult figure’ at both Liverpool and Wrexham and was also held in high regard when he moved to Chelsea. His Anfield career spanned around 100 games, and he was an instant hit and the Kop adored him, not just because of his commitment but the fact he was a Kopite himself.

We had Joey’s brother, Josh, with us and nephew Frank, plus David Fairclough, Joey’s teammate from his Liverpool days. We had former Liverpool player and now a member of the Academy coaching staff Stephen Wright, straight from his starring role in the Legends game. Steve knew Joey from his early coaching days and shared a tale of two. There were members of Wrexham FC, all who knew Joey from his days with the North Wales club who this season have been challenging for a Play-Off place in the Championship and they all had a good yarn to share about the man who became revered in these parts.  Peter Jones, our MC, knew Joey well and helped him with his autobiography and there were many others who could speak of Joey as a friend. Of course, David Fairclough played alongside Joey in the Liverpool side of the 70’s and David told us a few tales about Joey the player, teammate, and roommate. The story of Joey getting sent off on David’s debut at Middlesbrough had to be heard. The focus of the night was to raise awareness of the charity Joey supported, namely Dementia UK and we had representatives from the charity present on the night.

I must thank all those who contributed via the auction and the raffle and of course, Vicky and Reagan Wilson who sold the tickets and as ever, Reagan came up with the goods with an amazing cushion in honour of Joey.

A special thanks must go to the staff at Hotel Wrexham; they were magnificent and helped the night run so well. Also, to the former curator of the Liverpool FC museum Stephen Done who brought along the replica of the most famous banner in football, the Munching Gladbach one which you can see adorning the wall in the picture below.

John Barnes & Peter Beardsley

White Star Line Hotel NOVEMBER 2025

Thirty years on from that first little fanzine hitting the streets outside Anfield, Red All Over The Land marked the milestone in style with a superb night at The White Star Line Hotel with both John Barnes and Peter Beardsley in excellent form. However, the star of the show was young Isaac Kearney.

The night carried real purpose, raising funds and awareness for Wolf Hirschhorn Syndrome, with Isaac Kearney’s family joining us and reminding us why this community still matters.  Raffles, auctions, photos, songs, and a squad-signed were shirt up for grabs for those who couldn’t make it.  Three decades on, and we’re still doing what we’ve always done: bringing Reds together for something bigger than ourselves. YNWA.

David Fairclough Night

Reds Bar August 2025

A special night with the Supersub himself, David Fairclough the man behind one of the most iconic goals in Liverpool’s history. Hosted by Kevin Walsh we also enjoyed live music with local favourite Jimmy Coburn. The evening brought together a proper mix of Reds from across the generations.

Among the guests were Stephen Done, former curator of the LFC Museum and a few of the original Shankly Boys including Gordon Wallace, scorer of Liverpool’s first ever European goal, George Sephton the now-retired Voice of Anfield and and members of the families of several Liverpool greats from a bygone era.

Bootleg Beat Leeds tribute

John Aldridge - Reds Bar May 2025

In May we celebrated the 60th anniversary of Liverpool’s first ever FA Cup triumph at out Bootleg Beat Leeds Tribute Night. The brilliant evening was packed with music, food and memories plus memorabilia, classic footage from the final and the famous homecoming. Guests enjoyed a special reprint of the original match programme and song sheet, and even had the chance to lift the FA Cup itself.

Hosted by Lee Rogan, with music from the brilliant David Jaggs, the night featured special guests John Aldridge, David Fairclough and Howard Gayle, along with family members of players from that unforgettable 1965 side.

It was a fitting tribute to what was the greatest day in Liverpool’s history back then and one that still stirs pride today.

Kop’s Greatest Hits : Peter Beardsley

Hotel Anfield nov 2024

Our Peter Beardsley night at Hotel Anfield pulled in a full house, with Peter sharing stories from his playing days and life around the club. Hosted by Graham Mack and John Pearman, and with live music from Marc Kenny, it had that easy, friendly feel that makes these nights what they are. Members of the Merseyside Society for Deaf People were among the guests, along with families of Liverpool legends Tommy Lawrence, Roger Hunt, Ian Ross, Chris Lawler, and Jimmy Case.

With the help of our sponsors and supporters, funds were raised for two charities close to our hearts – The Community Basket, who fight food poverty in Anfield, and The Church on Oakfield Road. Another top night for Red All Over The Land with good company, good causes with and many new friends made.

Kop’s Greatest Hits : Ronnie Whelan

Hotel Anfield Oct 2024

Our Kop’s Greatest Hits event starred Anfield great Ronnie Whelan, a mainstay of those dominant ‘80s sides who lifted leagues, cups and European trophies for fun. The Anfield legend entertained the crowd with stories from cup wins and title runs, and shared a few honest thoughts on the modern game. Another unforgetable evening with an excellent turnout and plenty of laughs.

The soundtrack came from David Jaggs of The Ragamuffins, and the night helped raise funds for The Community Basket with a raffle and prizes..

Kevin Keegan evening

hotel anfield nov 2023

Our Kevin Keegan evening had a full house of Reds who turned out to hear this club legend share stories from his time in Europe, his days under Shankly, and the moments that defined a generation. With the help of our sponsors, supporters, and tickets sold we raised over £4,000 for local causes in a night that celebrated the Liverpool community as much as the game.

Among the guests was George Sephton, the Voice of Anfield, who made his debut as Liverpool’s stadium announcer on the very same day Keegan made his Liverpool debut. Two two men whose sounds and sights defined an era.

Red All Over The Land also marked its 28th anniversary on a day that entertained many friends of the fanzine and long-time contributors. Our 300th issue was celebrated too -a milestone made possible by everyone who’s supported us over the years.

The funds were donated to two brilliant causes The Church Community Lunch Fund and Spirit of Shankly. Both doing great work across the community. Another night done right, a big name, bigger stories, and all for a good cause.

Phil Thompson evening

Abbey Lawns fundraiser hotel anfield June 2023

A full house at Hotel Anfield as we welcomed the legend and former captain Phil Thompson for a night of memories and a fair few tales from his time in red. We were entertained with his stories of Bob Paisley’s motivational team talks and the many trophies he lifted during those golden years.

The evening was a great success for our charity efforts too, with more money raised for Abbey Lawns Residential Home, helping keep a bit of community spirit alive where it matters most.

Legends Evening – Aldo & McMahon

hotel anfield November 2022

What turned out to be a Legends Night was a great success, and the the Hotel Anfield marquee was packed to the rafters. Both John Aldridge and Steve McMahon entertained the crowd, just as they used to do on the pitch.
It was all about raising money for the residents of Abbey Lawns Residential home and we succeeded in doing just that.  John Keith was the compère who stood between the two former players, and Graham Mack hosted th rest of the night.

A brilliant night all round and you can watch it all below on YouTube,
