Andoni Goes Home 19 Sep 2026 - Some years ago, now we were in the Runcorn services after a home game and there was a family of Bournemouth fans in there. One young lad said, “We’re on minus seven now” referring to the points deduction they’d been handed at the start of the season. They were in the fourth tier of the league and still faced the prospect of dropping out of the league altogether. Tomorrow, we travel down to what I still call Dean Court to play two days after they’d play an away European game. Bournemouth are playing in Europe while the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle and Tottenham aren’t. I don’t know if that young lad still goes but his fellow fans are surely living… ...
The League Cup 17 Sep 2026 - Chelsea at home in the next round and like Spurs, it’s only domestic Cups they’re interested in this season. They’ve got a squad of around 150 so it could be another interesting night. ...
Lewis The Lion 16 Sep 2026 - This felt like a League Cup game with a difference. Like it mattered to the players, to the manager, to the fans. There was an atmosphere. Helped by 6,000 Tottenham fans, there was rain, and we scored three goals that had everyone purring. We conceded one that we shouldn’t have but then Mama made one world class save plus a couple of others so redemption. For forty-five minutes there was Joe Gomez. We should thank Andoni for at least keeping a bit of experience in the starting X1 and although the first twenty minutes, and maybe the last twenty looked a bit scary the bit in between looked promising. I LIKE THE LEAGUE CUP BUT I’M NOT SURE CLUBS DO 15 Sep 2026 - Tonight we play Tottenham in what looks on paper, as one the ties of the round but nobody expects either side to put out anything close to their best X1. Tottenham might go stronger because the domestic Cups are all they can be competitive in. No European commitments and they won’t be worrying any title contenders either. On the other hand, our side looked tired and weary on Saturday, so we won’t be surprised at wholesale changes even though we don’t look like we’ve got a squad big enough to make wholesale changes. As Nil-Nils Go… 13 Sep 2026 - As Nil-Nils go, Liverpool v Fulham was one that most at Anfield would have forgotten by the time the players had reached the sanctuary of the dressing room. It might not have even stayed in the memory vaults that long. From our side I dare say tiredness will be thrown into the equation but even so, I was expecting a little bit more. The Ali/Gravenberch mix up should have cost us but maybe that was an indication of players not being on the same page at the same time. Andoni Meets The Media 11 Sep 2026 - Andoni told the gathered media that BarCOLA was fit, his problem was cramps. Cody Gakpo could be fit or maybe not. Nice one Andoni, keep them hanging on. Red All Over The Land On Sale v Fulham 11 Sep 2026 - Issue 325 of Red All Over The Land will be on sale outside Anfield against Fulham. Martin will be at Flagpole Corner from around 11am and I’ll be floating between the Fan Park at the back of The Albert and outside the Main Stand opposite the Faith Room. Give Him The Money… 10 Sep 2026 - Andoni’s first European game and we won. He couldn’t ask for any more could he. It was a classic European night, but we did okay and deserved to win and in the second half it sounded like Anfield had found a bit of its voice. I think the referee helped. Watching him gave me the impression that there was something in the laws of the game that got lost in translation. To be fair, I thought Atlético were the better side for the first half hour and deserved to go in front after some scrappy play on our part. Once Dominik had levelled, we were the better ones. Euro Nights & Issue 325 8 Sep 2026 - A European night used to be so special, but when we play Atlético Madrid tomorrow it will have too much of a familiar ring to it. I look forward to it and will be wondering what Diego Simone will have up his sleeve. He’s not just a master of the dark arts, he invented most of them. It will be Andoni’s first European [Champions] League game so it will be interesting to see how he approaches it and his team selection. Ronald Araújo could be just the type of player we’ve been looking for when it comes to European football, he might know a few of the dark arts as well.
