Editorial Issue 301

Welcome to Issue 301 of Red All Over The Land.

At the start of the season, I didn’t see Liverpool as title contenders and that a good season would be a top four finish, some silverware and a final in Dublin wouldn’t go amiss.  Well, whatever happens we’ve achieved my target of silverware.  The quad hopes have gone, the treble hopes live on.

Losing at Old Trafford in the FA Cup hurt but these things happen. More important will be our next game there, a chance to put things right on the bigger picture.

Atalanta in the Europa League won’t be a given.  They’ll be the best side we’ve played in the competition to date.  Unlike many others I sometimes prefer the home leg first and this is one of those times.  Hopefully by then we’ll have most of the walking wounded back and ready for action.

The highlight of the season has been the emergence of so many of the Academy players.  Jürgen has given them the chance and they’ve not looked out of place.  In fact, some of them are now essential members of the squad.  I’ve hinted before about how much these players will save the club in transfer fees and just thinking about Conor Bradley, Jarrell Quansah and Bobby Clark, all of them will surely be part of the Liverpool future.  At the start of the season, we had hopes for Ben Doak, but his progress has been halted by injury but next season he should be back to join those mentioned, plus Stefan Bajcetic, Kaide Gordon and both Jayden Danns and Louis Koumas.  There are other players out on who are not letting anyone down.  So, whoever takes over from Jürgen will inherit probably the most talented group of young players in our history.

There’s no space in this issue to accommodate the usual Red All Over YouTube slot but the shows appear to be going from strength to strength and are watched by Reds All Over the World.  I must thank the show host Graham Mack for making this possible.  We try to cover varying topics, but we don’t try to be too serious when doing so.

We have a date in mind for our next event which will hopefully be on Saturday May 4th, and it certainly will be if we remain in the Europa Cup.  If that’s not the case we’re going to be in the hands of the TV boffins, and they can screw up even the best of plans.  We should know soon enough, and the details will be on every social media platform available to us, and I’ll also email the world and the details will be in Issue 302.

Thank you to everyone who passed comments about this Fanzine reaching the milestone of 300 issues.  I doubt we’ll achieve another 300 because if so, I would be one of the world’s oldest men.  As previously mentioned, Issue 303 will be a Jürgen Klopp special.  I’m hoping to get it printed in full colour and over the next week or so following the publication of this issue I’ll start planning it.
