Editorial Issue 321
March 11, 2026
Welcome to Issue 321 of Red All Over The Land.
It’s been over six weeks since the last issue came out for the game v Qarabag. I can’t remember the last time we went so long without publishing a new issue. Night games are a pain especially when accompanied by lousy weather or like against Manchester City the make-up of the crowd were not the type who would know what a Fanzine represents let alone buy a copy. I’m now hoping for dry weather and a more receptive fan turn out between now and the season end.
The future of Red All Over The Land is hanging in the balance. We stand on the side of genuine supporters but there are fewer of them getting tickets for games these days. We stand in line with the Spirit of Shankly about the exploitation of loyalty, but I feel even they’re finding it harder to get their voice heard. There is a proposal on the table for the SoS to withdraw from the supporter’s board, but I hope that doesn’t happen. I believe they are the only voice we have, the only voice that genuinely speaks for the real fans and without the SoS the exploitation will get worse. This does not just apply to Liverpool but to the other football superpowers.
Just concentrating on Liverpool the club now seems to prefer the customer who is willing to pay an exorbitant price for a ticket. Those who have crossed continents, many who are just ticking a box and have paid thousands for the privilege while the people who made Anfield what it became are slowly being pushed away. The club trades off the ‘Anfield Experience’ but does anyone know what that is these days?
I’m sending this issue to Paul the Printer the morning after the defeat at Wolves. As things are I have no idea where our team is heading and likewise, the club. Arne has said some strange things about where we were two years ago before he arrived, but he will ultimately be judged on where we are at the end of May. The club invested in excess of £400m in the close season on new players to improve the squad. Injuries have played a massive part but are also, unfortunately, part of the game. I’m sure the club has budgeted for Champions League football and that some futures could depend on it. Not just Arne but Micheal Edwards and Richard Hughes as well.
It was said in 1993 that Liverpool exists only to win trophies. Is that still the case today or is today about other things?
JJP: It was once said that if I was a dedicated follower of fashion my idol would have been Worzel Gummidge.
