The Only Points That Matter
October 10, 2026
After having a few days walking around the most northerly tip of North Wales and avoiding all the Manchester City gossip, I started to think about the game tomorrow. Even in a remote place such as where we were you could sense what the build-up was going to be about, sadly there was only one show in town, that is until Everton got put up for sale. I felt for the managers of the Premier League clubs because they were all going to be asked their opinion about what they’re now branding SHAMGATE. I suppose it had to have a title but in the main the managers said it was nothing to do with them and that’s how I see it. It’s nothing to do with us and until someone tells me differently that’s my way of looking at it.
As for the Kop and all other parts of Anfield giving Manchester City a tough afternoon, creating an intimidating atmosphere – well shouldn’t it be like that regardless of who the other team is. And how confused will the massed ranks of half ‘n half scarf wearers cope when shouting unfriendly comments at Manchester City while proudly displaying their colours.
For me the game is about one thing and one thing only. Three points. That’s going to be a bit harder now because Cody Gakpo and Alex Isak got wounded on the damned international duty. First international break, first injuries. We’ve passed this way before. Let’s hope another hero can step forward and help send Citeh back down the East Lancs feeling a bit pointless.
If you’re at Anfield, PLEASE buy a Fanzine it’s the only thing you’ll find cheap. If not, visit www.redallovertheland.com. Support the Fanzine that supports others.
