Spot On Joe

Beating Chelsea last night, albeit in the penalty shoot-out lottery was just reward for the manager. With Lewis Koumas and James McConnell picking up early yellow cards meant they were a bit restricted, but they kept going. Both deserved the cheers when they were replaced by the seasoned pros. I’m starting to see both Rio and Trey now as first teamers and once again, Trey wasn’t far off man of the match. When the likes of VvD and Company are trusting him, you can see how far he has progressed under this manager. When Rio got the chance to run at Chelsea, they struggled to cope. I will also say this, I’ve criticised Mama in goal but last night, as against Spurs, he was excellent and is looking like a real ‘keeper if you get my gist. Like with Ali on Sunday, distribution could be better, but I’ll take what we’re seeing as more progress. However, the man of the moment must be Joe Gomez. Joe’s a professional and when it comes to defending, I’ve always believed he’s one of the best we’ve got. Last night he told Andoni Irola [or should that be IroLA] that if we need a right back, look no further. Oh yeah, his penalty wasn’t too bad either. We didn’t play brilliant football, but we stopped a more experienced Chelsea playing brilliant football. I’m beginning to think we’ve got a team again. Arsenal will be a different kettle of fish, but these lads will go out and give it their best. Not sure that was happening too much last season.
