A Win Is A Win

No doubt we didn’t play as well as we would have liked but a win is a win and we’ll be top going into the international break. The Jota goal early on secured the points. We had to defend in the second half, which we did despite Alisson Becker going off with a hamstring. Vitezslav Jaros coming on because Kelleher had gone down with a bug. It was the first time the Austrian has played but we closed ranks and saw the last 15 minutes or so of the game out.

Oh Mo

We needed a wonder goal from Mo to settle the nerves and seal the win and the points but Bologna made it tough. When Mac Allister scored after about 10 minutes easy street seemed to be beckoning but it wasn’t. How they didn’t get level was down to Ali and the goalpost but we created our own problems with a lot of untidy passing and some messing around in our own penalty area. However, Mo stepped in with another goalden wonder. Three more points in the European Super League.

Top Of The Shop

We weren’t brilliant at Wolves, struggled for fluency at times but we won and that’s all that matters. Konate gets his first Premier League goal just before halftime and not long after Wolves levelled Mo slots home a penalty. Sunday morning top of the shop. I can live with that.

Bubbles Bust

I may be in the minority but I see the League Cup as an important trophy. We celebrated two great days down at Wembley under Jurgen and beating Chelsea. On the way to last seasons triumph we beat West Ham at Anfield 5-1. Hopefully this game against West Ham was one of those magical co-incidents as we beat them 5-1 again. A daft own goal put us in arrears but Jota soon levelled. The second half saw us score four more, Jota again, Mo and then a late couple from Gakpo and surely that warmed up the faithful on a cold and rainy night. Brighton away next, no easy draws for us.

Ten Minutes Of Greatness

Trepidation was the air as the stigma of the Forest defeat hung over Anfield. Inside five minutes the ball was in the back of our net but thankfully VAR came to our aid and cancelled things out.  The warning signs were there and we scrambled about playing funny football at the back. Then it happened. Luis Diaz scored following a searching long ball. Two minutes later he scored again. Joyous sounds filled the replaced trepidation and when Darwin Nunez rifled in a third we sat back and thought of the goals to come. Unfortunately, no more goals did come and the second hard became a bit tedious at times but we’re top of the table until Manchester City & Arsenal play. Those ten minutes will stay in the memory for a bit longer.
